Our Board

The PACIA Board is comprised of twelve leading Chief Executive Officers and Managing Directors from the chemicals and plastics industries. The Board provides leadership to our industry on a range of strategically important issues and ensures that the activities of PACIA are directed to those areas and services that provide greatest value to members.



Ross McCann

President PACIA
Executive Chairman – Qenos

Ross McCann was appointed President of the PACIA Board in October 2008.

Ross is currently the Executive Chiarman of Qenos, the sole manufacturer of polyethylene in Australia.

Prior to his taking up his role at Qenos, Ross was a member of the Executive Committee of WMC Resources Ltd, with responsibility for major project management both within Australia and off-shore.

Ross also spent 25 years with ICI Australia in management roles in operations, business development projects and leading business units.
In addition he was also a director of the Australian Stem Cell Centre.

Ross is a graduate of the University of New South Wales in Chemical Engineering (Hons) and has had executive experience in the chemical, petrochemical & mineral resources areas.

 

Greg Witcombe
Vice-President PACIA
Chief Executive Officer  - Orica Chemicals Group

Greg Witcombe is currently Chief Executive Officer, Orica Chemicals Group, based in Melbourne.

Greg joined Orica in 1977 as a research chemist with the Agricultural Products business before moving into a series of commercial roles in the Chemicals business, including a secondment to the United Kingdom where he had responsibility for chemical exports to Asia.

His senior management positions have included General Manager of Trading (now Chemnet) and Mining Chemicals, General Manager of Polyethylene Group, Manager Director of Incitec Ltd and Managing Director of Incitec Pivot Limited.

Prior to this appointment, Greg was General Manager People and Community with responsibility for Human Resources, Safety Health and Environment, Corporate Affairs, Six Sigma and Group Procurement.

 


Sam Bastounas
President, Australasia 
Nuplex Industries Limited

Sam Bastounas was appointed to the position of President in 2011.

In his current role he oversees all Nuplex operations in Australasia.
 
Sam has held a number of roles with Orica and ICI in the past and spent 2 years in Asia as CFO of a joint venture in the late 1990’s.

Sam holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and an MBA both from Monash University in Melbourne.

In 2007 Sam completed the AMP at The Wharton School in the United States and in 2009 completed his graduate diploma of The Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Cameron Dunn
Managing Director - FBT Transwest

Cameron Dunn was appointed to the PACIA Board in 2007.

He is on the Board of the Victorian Transport Association (VITA) Executive Council, Vice Chairman of the VTA General Freight Committee and a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (MCIT) and the CEO Institute.

Cameron was appointed as Managing Director of FBT Transwest in 2009.  He lives in Melbourne, with his wife and two daughters.

Cameron began his career in 1986 in the logistics industry at United Transport in WA as a Transport Clerk. A career highlight was in 1998 when he was awarded the Young Western Australian Transport and Logistics Professional of the Year.

 

Ian Hansen
Chief Executive Officer - Chemicals
Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers Division

Ian Hansen has worked at CSBP Limited for over 20 years, holding management roles in operational and commercial areas of both the chemicals and fertilisers divisions. Prior to his appointment as Managing Director in October 2007, Ian was General Manager of the chemicals business division between 2002 and 2007, and from 2005 to 2007 was also President of the Kwinana Industries Council.

Ian is a director of a number of Wesfarmers group subsidiaries. Ian holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Chemistry from the University of Western Australia, and is a graduate of the INSEAD Advanced Management Programme.

 

Colin Isaac
Managing Director, South Pacific - BOC Limited

Colin Isaac joined The BOC Group in 1987. He was appointed to his current role in January 2007, having managed numerous businesses across Asia over the past ten years. Following a term as Managing Director of Thai Industrial Gases he became Business Unit Head for the BOC businesses in South-East Asia and subsequently moved to Shanghai to lead the BOC Business Unit in North Asia.

Colin has held Directorship positions in several companies in South East Asia, North Asia and now in the South Pacific. Colin is married with two children. He enjoys exploring new destinations and is keen on all sports.

Colin has a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree and an MBA.

 

Brian Jecks
Managing Director Australia and New Zealand - Arkema 

Brian Jecks is Managing Director –Australia-New Zealand for Arkema Pty Ltd. He has spent over 30 years in the Chemicals and Plastics industry in New Zealand and Australia.

Brian joined Shell Chemicals NZ in 1978 and held a variety of roles before joining elf Atochem in 1995. He relocated to Australia in 2002 to take up a position as Commercial Manager – Polyethylene for Atofina, taking over as MD of Arkema in 2005.

Brian has a BSc (Hons) from the University of Canterbury and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

 

Ken Mirams
Director, Dow Chemical (Australia) Limited.

Ken has a total of 34 years with the multinational Chemical Manufacturing Industry, with International, Asia-Pacific and Australian experience. He has worked in Manufacturing, Research & Development and Human Resource functions up to a Senior Management level.

He joined Dow in 1974 in Manufacturing and transferred to New Zealand for 4 years in Agricultural Chemical Manufacturing. On return to Australia he moved into R&D. He transferred to USA in Research & Development in 1982 and in 1989 for 3 years in our R&D labs in Texas, and then returned to Australia to manage the Dow R&D laboratory.

Ken joined the HR function in 1997, and spent 3 years from 2000 to 2003 in Hong Kong. He has been the HR Director for Dow Pacific, based in Melbourne, and the Managing Director for Dow Chemical Australia & New Zealand. He now holds the position of Director, Dow Chemical (Australia) Limited.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from RMIT in 1974

 

Shane Moloughney
Managing Director - Viscount Plastics Pty Ltd

Shane Moloughney was appointed to the PACIA Board in 2008 and is presently Managing Director Asia Pacific, of the Viscount Plastics Group, a division of the Linpac Group.

Shane first joined Viscount in October 2004 as General Manager, Australasia, having started his career within the Human Resources/ Industrial Relations function holding a number of senior line and functional management positions with Trans Australian Airlines (now Qantas), Pilkington Glass, ACI Glass Packaging , Stramit Industries and the BTR Industrial & Construction Group before moving into general management in1997 as General Manager of the Nylex Polymer Group within the BTR Nylex Corporation and then as Managing Director of Karcher Australia.

Shane holds a Bachelor of Arts (Multi-discipline) and Grad Dip in Business Administration.

 

  Ross Pilling
Managing Director Australia and New Zealand - BASF Australia Ltd

Ross is the Managing Director of BASF Australia Ltd and Sub-Regional Head of BASF in Australia and New Zealand.

From 2004 until taking up his current role in 2008, Ross was Managing Director of BASF Asia Pacific Service Centre in Malaysia, with the responsibility for establishing a shared services centre to deliver HR, Finance and IT services to 60 BASF companies in 16 Asian countries.

Ross joined BASF Australia Ltd. in 1999 as Business Director with responsibility for the Shared Services Platform. He introduced significant organizational and process change in the Supply Chain, IT and assets utilization areas. He was appointed Director in 2002.

Prior to joining BASF, Ross had more than 20 years experience in the manufacturing industry in Europe and Australia. Ross is a graduate of The University of Liverpool (UK) in Metallurgy & Materials Science (Hons). He completed his Masters in Industrial Engineering and Administration at the Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK.


David Pullan
Group General Manager - Nufarm

David Pullan joined Nufarm in 1985. A mechanical engineer, David has extensive experience in chemical synthesis and manufacturing, having held a variety of operational and management positions in the oil and chemical industries. David is responsible for all of Nufarm's global manufacturing and production sites, and is a member of the Global Executive team.

David holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) with First Class Honours from University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

Russell Schroeter
Managing Director - SNF (Australia)

Russell Schroeter has been a Board member of PACIA since 2008.

Russell joined SNF (Australia) Pty Ltd in April 2002 as the General Manager and was appointed to the Board in November 2002. During that time SNF (Australia) Pty Ltd has completed the building of an emulsion flocculant plant and commissioned it in June 2003.

Prior to joining SNF, Russell worked with Nalco in various sales and marketing roles in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Russell graduated from the Gordon Institute of Technology in 1976 with a Bachelor of Applied Science."
